“Student” sexually assaulted outside Brynderw Hall

IT HAS BEEN reported that a student was sexually assaulted outside Brynderw Hall on the morning of Saturday, 6th October.

It is believed that the attack, carried out by an unknown man, occurred between 3:15am and 4am at the halls in Stanley Road.

The suspect is described as being of a well-tanned complexion, approximately 5’5” tall, slim to medium build with short black, straight hair and thick eyebrows, wearing a light grey anorak with some form of logo on the left chest area, dark blue jeans and dark coloured walking shoes.

Anybody with information is asked to contact Aberystwyth Police Station on 101, or you can ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A spokesperson for the University said “The investigation into this incident is in the hands of the Police and the University will not be making any comment.”

“Brynderw forms part of the portfolio of residences managed by the University and is patrolled regularly by Residential and Hospitality Services, which is a 24/7 department. Residential tutors who live in Brynderw support the community of students in the hall and have clear routes to communicate any concerns or issues with professional colleagues in the University for support 24/7, should the need arise.”

Safety advice was provided in last week’s Weekly Email, including the “Walk with a Friend” campaign.
