Spain’s Dani Pedrosa wins Portuguese MotoGP in Estoril

Dani PedrosaDani Pedrosa, who started from third on the grid in the Portguese round of this years MotoGP, ended up crossing the line in first place after sitting on Lorenzo’s tail until four laps from the end, where he then passed him. Valentino Rossi, seven times world champion, finished fifth. Britains Cal Crutchlow finished in eighth.

Pedrosa’s win is impressive, when you consider he started the race with a numb right shoulder, after a recent shoulder operation.

I’m in a lot of pain now but I just want to thank all the doctors who have helped me to be here.

Lorenzo pointed out in post race interviews that he didn’t let Pedrosa pass, it was simply a case that Pedrosa was carrying more speed. He did concede however that he may have been physically tired, as he was setting a demanding pace, pushing, whereas Pedrosa was simply following his lead and his route.
