Nathan, a 3rd year International politics student , has come into his own as the 1st XV’s starting Inside Centre. Whilst starting his AUMR career as a Forward second row/back row player, he converted to the role of Centre during his time as second team captain last year, and has since found himself to be the defensive rock of the back line. Whether it’s running over the opposition, or smashing them backwards in the tackle, his strength and size has seen him follow in the footsteps of the notorious Matt Spicer. Getting his nickname for obvious reasons, Nathan modelled for Storm Models, and international modelling agency, before he came to Aberystwyth. He is a pivotal member of the squad both socially and on the pitch, and in his own words, “is better than Irvine in every single way”.

Likes: The Boys, Crossfit with Pitt, AUMR Socials, being YikYak famous and (apparently) girls with boyfriends.
Dislikes: Losing, Thursday morning lectures, girls who dance like they’re single, washing dishes, and Yoko’s increasing price of VK’s after 1am.

Kenco, a 1st year Sport & Exercise student, has been a revelation for AUMR 1st XV. Starting his first game this year for the 1st XV, he has retained the 13 jersey ever since, outclassing and dominating every opposition he has come up against, and is the first fresher this year to have earned his AUMR tie with 3 starts for the 1st team. This Wednesday marked his 5th game, with 3 tries already under his belt. Despite being in Aber less than 3 months, his name already reverberates across Yikyak and Facebook, whether it be for his rugby prowess or his ability to break poor Aber girl hearts. He says that sport has made his time in Aber much more enjoyable and fulfilling, and that the rugby team feels like a family to him.

Connor, a 2nd year International Politics student, is the in-form half back for the club right now. Currently playing at Scrum Half, Connor has found himself to be an irreplaceable general in the team at 9 or 10 since first joining the club, with arguably the best pass as well. I caught up with Connor recently, and although well known for being a quiet, humble player, when asked how he enjoyed playing for the 1st team he replied, “it’s hard being the best all the time, but when your this good its just a burden you have to bare. I’ll just keep playing my game and hope everyone else in the team can keep up”. Whilst juggling his studies and also playing for his team back in Walsall, Connor attends every training session and is out every Wednesday, to be found around one o’clock at the back of Harley’s dance floor with a VK in hand.
