THIS SUNDAY sees Aberystwyth Town F.C. welcome rivals, Newtown A.F.C to Coedlan y Parc for an all or nothing Europa League Play-Off Final. The winner will earn a place in next season’s Europa League First Qualifying Round and with the new UEFA financial agreement in place, will earn €200,000 for their club. Aberystwyth manager said midweek that: “There has been a lot of talk about the money but for us it’s all about winning something together, as a team.” This seems to especially be the case after losing out on last year’s Welsh Cup.

Both teams came through semi-finals after a long season, Newtown finishing bottom of the Top 6 in the Welsh Premier League and then beat Port Talbot in South Wales last Sunday. The home side, were fourth in the top 6 and came from 2-1 down last weekend to beat GAP Connah’s Quay 3-2, Mark Jones with the winner in injury time.

Tickets have been made available to be picked up across the town and campus throughout the week with over 300 tickets already been taken by Thursday in a week where both Seasiders Geoff Kelloway and league top goal scorer, midfield maestro Chris Venables were named in the WPL’s team of the season.

Kick-off on Sunday is at 1pm, with tickets available at the gates. If you can’t make it down to Park Avenue follow @abersmsports for live updates on Twitter.
