Aberystwyth University celebrates community of international students with One World Week

ABERYSTWYTH University is hosting a number of events this week to celebrate One World Week. This is in recognition of the contribution that international students make to the University, the local community and the Welsh economy.

One-World-Week-logo-webThe University’s International Office have organised the week’s events in conjunction with the Students’ Union.

One of the week’s main events is a General Election Hustings: ‘The Immigration Debate and International Students’, which takes place on Thursday 19 March at the Department of International Politics.

The main political party candidates standing in the General Election in Ceredigion have been invited to answer questions from the floor on their policies on immigration and international students.  There will also be an opportunity for international students to make presentations before the main debate starts.

Also taking place during the week is the World Fair, on 19th March in the Students’ Union between midday and 5pm.

There will also be a screening at the Art Centre’s cinema of Ida, a Polish film which picked up an Oscar for the best Foreign Language Film this year.

Running concurrently throughout the week is the ‘With a little help from my friends’ campaign. The campaign is a selfie and video project aiming to celebrate the many international friendships between students, staff and the community in Aberystwyth.
