Located in a converted stone farmhouse on the edge of the Penglais campus, it is currently  home to the University Staff & Social Club but after the retirement of the previous steward, the university have chosen to give Brynamlwg to the Students’ Union rather than find a replacement.

Brynamlwg will remain the home of the staff social club but, in addition, will now also be open to students and the general public.

In a press release the Union stated that, “This development further outlines our commitment to providing opportunities and space for our students. We look forward to working with the University in developing and expanding our services across all campuses”.

John Glasby, Chief Executive Officer at the Students’ Union said:

“I am delighted that the strength of our commercial operations has been recognised in this way, running the bar will enable us to generate even more opportunities for our student members as well as ensuring the club reopens for current and retired University staff.”

Students’ Union President Jacob Ellis added that:

“This is great news for the students. We recognize the great potential this building could have for the student experience from sports and societies involvement to providing fringe outlets from the Students’ Union.”

The premises is currently being refurbished and deep cleaned and the Brynamlwg re-opening date will be announced shortly.
