The £100,000 grant will be utilised by Ceredigion County Council over a year-long period to trial new services in and around Tregaron. The trials will include using Council vehicles to augment existing bus services, and provide vehicles to support health and social care provision, the latter being run in coordination with Hywel Dda Health Board. The possibility of discounted travel for 16-21 year olds is also to be explored.

The announcement comes as a relief after a tough year for bus services in the County, with the loss of Arriva services and the closure of their depot in Aberystwyth. Though some services were saved, the announcement of new services to Tregaron will nevertheless be a relief to both locals and students who live nearby, and is a welcome sign of investment by the Welsh Government in Ceredigion overall.
