Aberystwyth skate park designs revealed

THE PLANS for Aberystywth’s skate park in Boulevard St Brieuc have been released, depicting how the park might look depending on Lottery Funding.

When first proposed in 2010, there was widespread opposition to the approval of the plans following concerns from residents that the park could encourage anti-social problems such as underage smoking and drinking. Controversy then followed as the County Council raised taxes in order to help pay for the park, however the Town Council has since received over £24,000 towards the building of the park from the Big Lottery Fund, which has eased the pressure on the taxpayers of Aberystwyth.

The Town Council have recently conducted a series a meetings with interested parties, residents, local volunteer groups and representatives of the Llanbadarn Community Council regarding the various issues which have been raised in regards to the park. The plans have since gained popular vote with residents emphasizing the benefits that this investment will bring to the younger community.

As excitement stirs for the new facility, which will be available to everyone living in North Ceredigion, it has been confirmed that various assessments pertaining to the land and the area it occupies are currently underway in order to see the submission of a planning application in the near future.
