ON THE 1st of March Aberystwyth University Showdance Club hosted their first ever national dance competition. The clubs competing were Showdance and Panthers for Aberystwyth University, Swansea University Dance Society, and Expression and FAD from Cardiff University.

The categories included were; an open category (in which universities could enter any style of dance), beginner and advanced ballet, tap, lyrical/contemporary and jazz, and advanced Hip Hop.

The fact that this was Showdance’s first competition of the year and the first time Showdance had hosted an event of this magnitude meant that spirits were high in the run up to the performances. The team did not let Aber down as they secured first place in beginner and advanced ballet choreographed by Danielle Bodnieks and Eleanor Ballinger respectively, beginner tap choreographed by Meghan Edwards, beginner and advanced lyrical/contemporary choreographed by Louisa Gomes Munro and Danielle Bodnieks, and beginner and advanced jazz choreographed by Florence Genis and Danielle Bodnieks.
