PVC John Grattan appointed to QAA board

JPGPRO-VICE Chancellor John Grattan has been appointed to the board of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA)

The QAA guides and reviews universities and colleges across the UK, by judging academic standards and the quality of learning experience.

A University statement said: “Professor Grattan is keen to support QAA in its mission of protecting standards and improving quality, enabling higher education to transform the lives of today’s students as it did his own.”

Douglas Blackstock, Director of Resources at the QAA said: “The board sets the strategy for QAA, so it is important that we have the right people around the table, encompassing a variety of different perspectives to ensure we are equipped to deal with the changing environment in higher education.”

Speaking his broad view of Universities in general, Professor Grattan said: “Universities should leave no stone unturned to enhance the student experience.”
