2014 Students’ Union spring elections candidates announced

The candidates for the 2014 Students’ Union Spring Elections have been announced. In total there are 24 positions for election: 5 full time officer positions, 8 part time officer positions, 3 section officers, and 4 liberation officers. Also up for election are the positions of NUS Conference Delegate (both UK and Wales) and the roles of postgraduate and undergraduate trustee. Only 16 of these positions have candidates running for them.

Nominations for these positions closed yesterday, and candidates attended a preliminary briefing earlier this afternoon. Many have already announced their candidacy via social media websites, but campaigning cannot officially begin until Thursday 27th February. Voting will open at 9.00am on Tuesday 4th March, and will close at noon on the 6th March.

In conjunction with this regulation any Aber Student Media members who are part of candidate’s campaign teams will not be participating in any coverage of the Elections. A list of those members and any others who have potential conflicts of interested will be listed on our website in due course.

Former Courier Editor and current Aber Student Media member Harry Taylor has resigned from his position and will not be participating in any elections coverage, neither will ASM members Will Atkinson, Ben Holihead, Josh James, and Simon Sardeson-Coe.
