Flood Alert issued for Aberystywth

fkoodA FLOOD ALERT has been issued by the Environmental Agency for some areas of Aberystwyth; Seafront, Penparcau and Trefechan.

It states that wind forecasts are strong and are likely become severe on occasion. Students located on the Seafront should be particularly attentive as flooding is likely to occur this afternoon, with high tides predicted over the next high water between 4pm and 8:30pm.

The Met Office has forecasted a yellow warning of wind and heavy showers during the evening. Westerly winds will strengthen through Saturday afternoon and into the evening, bringing gusts of 50-60 mph to many parts of Wales, and 70 mph locally along exposed coasts.

There is a possible risk of localised disruption, particularly to travel, and it has been advised that the public should remain cautious, and prepare to make necessary preparations in the case of flooding.
