A DEMONSTRATION in Haverfordwest on 31st October is being organised by the Students’ Union against the permanent closure of the sexual health clinic.

Hywel Dda, the Local Health Board responsible for the clinic, have announced that there are no future plans to reinstate the clinic, as part of a wider review of sexual health services in the area,  as they do not feel there is an adequate demand for its services.

The permanent closure was announced in a Community Health Council meeting in Waunfawr in January.

Aberystwyth Students’ Union have expressed disappointment with the lack of consultation with the student body over the decision, despite constant correspondence with Mark Williams MP and the Students’ Union.

Laura Dickens, Welfare Officer said “The impact on the already strained North Road clinic service when students return to Aberystwyth in September will extend waiting times for students to be seen and could cause a rise in sexual health issues”

Further details will be released closer to the time, and any student wanting further information should contact Laura Dickens at [email protected]
