Aberystwyth Musicfest 2013 Fringe Concert Series

THE INTERNATIONAL music festival and summer school, Musicfest, is to return to Aberystwyth once again.

The free Fringe concert series, hosted by the Arts Centre, will last for a week between 27th July and 3rd August, and will showcase a range of genres and musicians from in and around Aberystwyth.

In a series of over 20 concerts, the programme will feature members of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, Folk duo Deuair, Cor y Gors, Violinist Davinder Singh, Platform 1, Cor ABC, Musicfest’s concert co-ordinator Holly Cook (double bass), acting Director of the Arts Centre Louise Amery (piano) and Musicfest summer school students.

The festival also includes a range of masterclasses and talks to accompany the live music. The world-renowned local artists will also be teaching at the summer school between performances.

A new part of Musicfest is the awarding of Junior Fellowships to young artists. Among those who will be receiving this award are members of the Porziano Quartet. Together with this new award, there will also be courses for children run by the Kodály Society of Wales and exchange programmes with young musicians from abroad.
