ONE candidate has come forward for each of NUS Wales’ two elected full-time officer positions.

The positions of President and Deputy President of the Welsh arm of the National Union of Students are elected annually at the organisation’s conference in March.

But just one candidate has come forward for each of the positions, both of which come with a salary of £19,865.

Steph Lloyd is re-running for the position of NUS Wales President, and Beth Button, currently Education Officer at Cardiff University Students’ Union, is standing for Deputy President.

The election at the NUS Wales conference in March will see delegates from Students’ Union vote for candidates in a secret ballot. Aberystwyth elects three candidates (in addition to the President of Aberystwyth University Students’ Union, who is automatically a delegate).

The third full-time position, Women’s Officer, will be elected by delegates to the NUS Wales Women’s Conference in May.
