All printers available to students will now be capable of printing in colour

THE COST of printing on University printers has been reduced as part of an upgrade of printers by Aberystwyth University’s Information Services department.

The new printers, installed on 18 December, have the same basic functionality as the previous models, but all are now able to print in colour and users can access work at printers by touching in with their Aber Card (library card) or by typing in their username and password. Students and staff will also be able to scan documents directly from a printer to their filestore, and a “quick print” function has also been introduced, allowing all print jobs to be released at once.

As well as being more environmentally friendly than previous models, the new printers will warm up faster and are capable of printing or copying 36 pages a minute.

The new printing/copying prices, effective immediately,  are:

  • A4 mono reduced from 5p to 3p
  • A4 colour reduced from 30p to 6p
  • A3 mono reduced from 10p to 4p
  • A3 colour reduced from 60p to 7p

Information Services will be closed from 4.30pm on Friday 21 December 2012 until Wednesday 2 January 2013. During this time the PJM Lounge, Rosser Lounge and Joseph Parry computer room will remain accessible to users with an Aber Card, and all other computer rooms will be closed.
