Aber ready to take on GAP Connah’s Quay

ABERYSTWYTH Town face Connahs Quay on Saturday (K.O 2.30) in a match that could take them ever closer to their ambition of finishing in the top-six of the Welsh Premier league, putting them in prime position for European football next year.

Connah’s Quay lie in sixth place currently, six points away from Aberystwyth Town and the match will see former Aberystwyth Town striker Ricky Evans returning to Park Avenue for the first time since leaving last season. The game earlier this season at the Deeside Stadium, finished 3-2 to Aber and ‘the Seasiders’ will be hoping for a repeat of the score.

Last Saturday they surprised many with a 4-2 victory over Port Talbot with Jordan Follows getting a brace and Glyndwr Hughes and Matty Collins getting a goal a-piece, but with other results not going their way, four teams are now tied on 15 points. Hughes, amongst other players made their return in recent games, a massive bonus for the side as they hope to climb the league.

The club are using the game on Saturday to attempt to get fans of the future to venture down to Park Avenue and catch the ‘footballing bug’ to keep them coming back for generations to come. Free admission is given to those turning up before 1.30 to take part in a penalty shoot-out and changing room tours amongst other events.
