6 Minute Make-up: Faking that 9am glow

So you’ve overslept after going out the night before and now you have to try and make a 9am lecture. Here’s how to get a lecture-ready face in five minutes:

  1. Swap your foundation for a BB cream or tinted moisturiser  They take a lot less time and precision to apply and give a more radiant finish (helping to perk your skin up and even out skin tone). I recommend No7 BB Cream (as it comes in a variety of shades and formulas) and Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser (which you can add to your regular foundation for a dewy finish).
  2. Invest in a good concealer. Pat it under your eyes and on any redness to give your skin a flawless finish. The best ones I’ve found on the high street are Maybelline SuperStay 24hr Concealer and Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.
  3. Fill in your ‘brows with an eyebrow pencil or matte eye shadow to instantly frame your face. If you’re brunette, pick a shade 2 shades lighter than your hair colour. If you’re blonde, you can afford to go 1 or 2 shades darker.
  4. Apply a cream or flesh-toned eyeliner to your waterline to open your eyes and get rid of any redness. The Stila Kajal Eyeliner in Topaz is perfect for this!
  5. Curl your eyelashes and apply mascara. It only takes seconds and will help you look more awake and open up your eyes. I swear by the Shu Uemura eyelash curlers – no others on the market can touch them! The best mascara I’ve ever tried is Benefit ‘They’re Real’ which gives exceptional lift, volume, curl AND length without smudging or budging.
  6. Throw a tinted lip-balm in your bag and apply once you’re in the lecture. One of the most moisturising yet pigmented are the Revlon Lip Butters which come in a variety of shades. My personal favourites are Sweet Tart and Candy Apple (if you want to go bright) or Peach Parfait and Pink Truffle (if you want to go neutral).

So there you have it. 6 steps to help you achieve a flawless face and make your lecture on time.
