36 hours in: April Jones still missing

AT A PRESS briefing this morning, the police announced that there are no developments regarding missing five year old, April Jones.

Dyfed Powys Police and specialist teams from other forces across the country continue to search key locations in and around Machynlleth this morning. The teams will continue to use information from the ongoing interviews with a 46 year old man in police custody, as well as information from the local community and standard police search procedure.

Police this morning reinforced their gratitude for the support they have received from the public, but also said again that they are conscious of the safety of volunteers. Supt. Ian John explained that police are “very conscious of the safety of volunteers in a rural environment with challenging conditions.  Today’s forecast is poor and the river is in flood.”

He added “we do not want officers to be distracted by well-intentioned and enthusiastic support from the public”

The next update from Dyfed-Powys Police is expected at 1pm.
