TO ABER students, it’s a common site to see Lacrosse players walking round campus, sticks on shoulders, producing a distinguishable image to all.

However the 2012-13 academic year will be an important year for Aberystwyth University Lacrosse Club as they are participating in the BUCS university league for the first time in their history as Lacrosse president Matthew Martin explains.

“We’ve been trying to get into the BUCS league for around two years now, we’ve grown as a club for the last three years with the University starting to notice the club and our achievements more.”

Martin is also hoping that after having fairly good results in recent years, both the men’s and women’s team can make the most of their first year in the University competition. “The men’s side are looking to start strong in BUCS as it’s their first time in the league. The women’s had a good year last term and are looking to strengthen their side and continuing their success”

The club, founded in 2001 has won accolades over the last few years including the 2011 ‘Most Improved Club of the Year Award’ and hopes are high for their first season in BUCS “Hopefully we can hold our own when we play in the league.”

“Overall I really hope we can strengthen the club as a whole, and improve our game to be bigger and better than ever.
