Students Union to hold Housing Crisis Centre

STUDENT Support Officer, Laura Dickens is organising a Housing Crisis Centre at the Students Union from the 16th to the 18th July to help those students who still don’t have somewhere to live next year.  Student Housing has often been an issue in Aberystwyth, with a dramatic shortage of supply. This event intends to hunt out and highlight what property is still available, building on the Student Union’s ‘Fools Rush In’ campaign last year.

Laura explains:

“The Housing Crisis Centre came about from Tom Burmeister last year. We’re running it a bit earlier this year. The main aim is to collate as much of the remaining property available for students in Aberystwyth. Last year there was a great success in unearthing lots of suitable digs, so hopefully we can build on last year and get people with a roof over their heads for next academic year. It often works out that people know of places, but perhaps do not know where to share them.”

To get involved, come along to the Students Union on Penglais Campus between 10am on the 16th and 4.30pm on the 18th of July or get involved by visiting the Facebook event here. For more information contact Laura on[email protected]. The hashtag #aberhcc is being used during the event for those participating online to report on properties that they find.
