Closure, but at what cost?

outside the Park Avenue Day Centre, in an attempt to convince Ceredigion Council to reverse their decision to close it. There is also a petition to sign, which already has a substantial number of names to it.

The protest had a turnout of about 50 people, mostly users of the centre and their families, although there were also some students joining in.

The Council plans to demolish this purpose-built centre to make way for a carpark and Tesco. The site provides many respite facilities for the elderly as well as their carers. They plan to move the services into the basement of the Town Hall, which is not as suited to the needs of its current users as the present building.

The demonstrators plan to continue to hold the protest every Saturday for the next few weeks.
