All change for the station

£2.3 MILLION is to be spent improving the whole of Alexandra Road in Aberystwyth, at the front of the railway and bus stations. The money comes from the Welsh Assembly Government, and an extra £200,000 is to go on the seafront area next year.

The scheme will include completely relaying the entire road with stone, removing the small parking area at the front of Wetherspoons, rebuilding the bus station to a new design and changing the layout of the taxi rank at the side.

Separate plans are well underway for a huge refurbishment of the railway station itself, starting as soon as possible next year. The plans will pass their final hurdle on December 8th, and the work should be finished by the end of 2012.
